We’ve spent the pandemic honoring essential workers and medical personnel, as we should. Every day they risk it all to deliver our goods or save our lives. But how about working moms? Remember that on the airplane, we take the oxygen mask first to ensure we can help our kids. And these days, we don’t even have teachers or coaches for a few hours of mask rotation.

Even before the days of COVID-19, we were frazzled. We split our lives between home and office, child and computer. Today, it’s all on us. Triple the workload, triple (quadruple?) the guilt. And it never stops. A close friend, a high school teacher, is now recovering from the Coronavirus. She never thinks about her burning lungs, her persistent cough, or whatever after-effects doctors haven’t discovered yet. She is worried about her 5-year old son.

That’s a working mom. It’s never, ever about us.

But we can make it better, by following these five simple steps.
